Things I would have Tweeted if I wanted to bombard everyone with Tweets all day

And I don't even like tweeting that much. I am never sure if I need to include a #hashtag, or if it is ok not to include one. So these are more of..... 'short remarks on events that occurred throughout my day'. Maybe you won't feel so bad about your day after reading these, or you will become super jealous on how awesome my days are if they are like this everyday. {Which they are not, it is actually very hard to describe a 'typical' day here so I am going to include a disclaimer that says this is not a portrayal of a typical day}


Disclaimer: The following 'short remarks on events that occurred throughout my day' are in no way a portrayal of a 'typical' day for me.

• Maybe I should just pretend to still be asleep so I can continue reading my book.

• SOMEONE STOLE THE WHEELBARROW! (You know, the one we take the garbage down to the street in). Oh wait, Jen just put it away this morning.

• I hope we have stock in a paper towel company: these cats make a huge mess.

• Nothing says ‘change your baking plans’ more than finding an entire mouse skeleton in the container you were planning on using.

• Being surprised to find something where it should be is never a good way to show your appreciation for your mum’s cleaning.

• Standing at the door for three minutes, waiting for the dog to come in, finally giving up only to have that same dog bark one minute later to be let in.

• I am not embarrassed to admit that I am so very excited to register for my classes! 

• Nor am I embarrassed to admit that I have three different schedules laid out in case I can’t get into a certain course.

• Does asking your boyfriend to quit work so you can spend every single day together qualify as being too clingy?

• Taking rain jackets on a beautiful, sunny day with no clouds in sight is sadly not the craziest thing my mum has done.

• Quote of the day: 'Now that is an aggressive fountain'.

• Cherry passion Tic Tacs, why are you so tasty?

• You know your baking skills are atrocious when you don’t think twice about purchasing a cake mix in case baking the cake from scratch doesn’t work out.

• Buying clothes at the grocery store; something just feels so wrong about it but that certainly didn’t stop me!

• And no, that wasn’t me buying shoes from the children’s section. 

• 
  

Still here!

Final essays and now exams have reduced my available time to almost nil, and while I want to post, it is not high on my priority list. 

This is going to be a random posting, as I have some pictures I have been wanting to post and things I want to share with Jennifer!!

Reading Week!

Here we are, the Thursday of Reading Week. Today was a bit of a wake-up call as today was the first day I actually sat down to get some work done! 


The weekend was a relaxing weekend, hanging out and doing nothing. 
Monday was Family Day, once again a 'do nothing' day. 
Tuesday was shopping in London for what seemed an eternity. 
Wednesday was more shopping and a movie. 


And of course, today I am struggling to make up for those relaxing days. Not that there is anything wrong with just spending time with my family, especially as Jennifer came home for Reading Week. But this means that my plan for getting a start on three essays this week is starting to look slightly out of reach. 

[On the plus side, I have seen two movies and read a book this week]

'This Is Where I Leave You' by Jonathan Tropper was included in Holly's book list of 2011. It was only a good book; it was funny and intelligent but I did not fall in love with the book. I enjoyed reading the novel but I could not relate to the middle-aged man whose wife cheats on him with his boss around the same time that his father dies. Judd Foxman, while having a ridiculously awesome name, is quite pitiful and while I am sure that was the intention of Tropper, it was only for the writing that I continued to read and not for the characters.  

I have heard some really great things about 'Crazy Stupid Love' from some friends but always just ignored the advice to see it. Until this past weekend that is. Kirk and I were at the video store for the longest time, not finding anything that interested us. As I became frustrated I grabbed this movie, having reached that 'I do not care anymore' stage. I was not really sure what to expect but I am sure glad I picked this movie. It is now my new favourite movie. I loved everything about it. I am still in that stage where I don't have any words to describe how much I loved it so all I will say is that everyone should watch it. Sorry Kathryn for not going out and renting this movie right after you told me about it! 

Yesterday Mom, Jennifer and I went shopping again and then to see 'This Means War'. I had seen quite a few trailers for the film and thought it looked hilarious. I was really excited to see it, but I quickly ran into problems when I tried to find a theatre that was playing it! Our normal theatre wasn't playing it and the only theatre in London that had the movie was SilverCity. I was really disappointed that there was so few places showing it but we did end up going to see it, despite the longer drive. I believe I could have really loved it, if it were not for 'Crazy Stupid Love'. Yes, I am blaming 'Crazy Stupid Love' for ruining my ability to enjoy a romantic comedy. My standards have been raised now and I have a feeling it will take some time before I stop comparing everything to 'Crazy Stupid Love'. 'This Means War' was cute; Reese Witherspoon is cute, Tom Hardy was cute [his accent, on the other hand, was fantastic] and Chris Pine was cute. Overall, cute. I believe it was the chemistry between two characters that saved this movie from being horrible. And that chemistry did not Reese's character, who just seemed an odd match for either Hardy or Pine. It was the bromance that gave the movie something interesting and exciting as their friendship seemed realistic and honest. 

My essay is coming along nicely now, so I should probably start to focus on it a little bit more than I have been. But to conclude:

• 'This Is Where I Leave You' - good, read it if you need something to fill your time. 
• 'Crazy Stupid Love' - go now and watch it! Seriously, go now! Stop reading this and go! 
• 'This Means War' - worth renting for a girl's night. Cute.

Monday

Nothing much is happening around here. And yet there is so much to do, which is why I figured today was a great day to sit around and do nothing.

I arrive home from the daycare around 1:30 or so and by the time I am done lunch and the barn it is close to 2. Since it is now 3:20 I have officially wasted an hour and a half of my day. 

I really should go and do something, because my list is getting larger and larger every day. Off the top of my head I have to:

• clean my desk, which has been neglected for so long I can no longer see the desk itself
• do laundry
• start some projects that I desperately want to do before school starts
• clean my room for back to school
• clean the cabin from camp
• figure out when to go to a movie with Kirk

This past weekend Kirk and I bought Avelee a wagon for her first birthday. We had decided earlier that we were just going to go and look at the wagons to see the different types available. So much for that plan. Not only did we purchase the Little Tikes Deluxe Ride and Relax wagon, we also decided we couldn't wait until September 17 and gave it to her on Sunday!! We even took her for a little ride, which was a lot of fun! 

And you should see the wagon!!! It is so cool! It comes with a cooler pack, 6 cup holders, an umbrella and one of the sides flips up so you can use it as a bench! I will see if I can get some pictures of Kirk and I assembling it Saturday night from his mom.

An Awesome Thing:

#840 Popping Bubble Wrap

I have been in a relationship with Kirk for over two years now and there have been little things that have happened over these two years that prove just how much I am in love with him. One of these little things happened just the other day when Kirk gave me some bubble wrap. I had recently, at some point, mentioned a bit ago how much I love popping bubble wrap. Now I can't even remember when I had mentioned this, as it was a just a passing comment. But Kirk remembered and brought me some bubble wrap from work for me. The only thing more awesome than popping bubble wrap is popping bubble wrap that your boyfriend brings you because he knows how much you love popping it.

I am still working on my post for Pride and Prejudice. Stay tuned for that.
I finished The School of Essential Ingredients and you can read my review for it here.
I also finished reading Sarah's Key, which I did not love as much as I really wanted to. It was still great, but not fantastic. I will be posting a review for that soon.
I am reading Oliver Twist right now for the BBC list. It is not bad so far.

A Monday Present: 

I had a hard time finding something for this week. I just couldn't think of anything that would be great. And then I remembered this:

I am sure many people are already aware of Pinterest. But if you are not, you are welcome! It is so addicting, which is completely awful and wonderful at the same time for a university student. Jennie Guenard, one of my very first and best friends, {click here for her wonderful How to Deal With... blog and here for her amazing photography blog, Guenard Photography} told me about Pinterest. I both curse her and thank her every time I go on. Check it out, it is completely addicting and thrilling!!! Enjoy!

Hello? Anyone there?

I often wonder if anyone reads my blog. I have to force my family to read this, which leads me to a funny interlude. Remember the Dollar Store Hero? Well, Jen and I never told our parents about her locking the keys in Steve again. I had decided to write our adventures in a blog post and see if they actually read it. It was a few days since Mom asked if we were ever going to tell her about our adventure. It took Dad another few days to read it himself. Mom and Dad, the moral of the story is to read my blog as soon as I post anything!! That way you can stay in the loop.

Before I get on with this post I would like to ask people to comment, even if it is just to say hi!

My goal for the school year is to blog often! And I really do mean often!! The Monday Posts will be done EVERY WEEK! And I am hoping to have another posting during the week sometime. I also find school to provide the structure in my life that I crave, and I am hoping that blogging will supply me with enough of a break when I do need it. We shall have to see how this goes but fingers crossed for more frequent posting.

An Awesome Thing:
#922 Getting a trucker to blow his/her horn
I have been volunteering at a day care a bit this summer and #922 is the most awesome thing in the WORLD for these little kids. There is a construction site near the day care and the big trucks use the road that day care is on to get to the site.

Imagine a peaceful playground, with kids playing in the sandbox, reading books and just enjoying life. Wait! What was that?! The rumble of the truck is heard across the playground and all the children jump up and run screaming to the fence, all of them pumping their arm up and down motioning the truck driver to honk his/her horn. When that horn does blow (as it does every. single. time) all the kids jump up and down, screaming with joy. Within a few seconds, it is peaceful once again. That is, until the faint rumble of another truck sends all the kids back to the fence again. Getting a trucker to blow his/her horn really is an Awesome Thing. 

Book Updates:
I recently finished reading Pride and Prejudice. The best word to describe this book right now is love. I am planning on devoting an entire post to P&P because it deserves it.

I am now in the middle of The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister. This is quickly turning out to be a wonderful novel and even though I am not yet finished reading it, put it on your lists of things to read.

I recently did something I have not done in a very long time. I actually purchased a book! That's right, an actual, hold-in-your-hands, turn the pages, not an e-book, book! Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay has been a book I have been wanting to read for a very long time so when I saw this on sale at Wal Mart, I jumped at the chance.

I also purchased The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I am very anxious to read both of these books and I am planning on writing reviews for both.

An Awesome Thing:

One of the first eBooks I bought for my Kobo was The Book of Awesome. It was.....awsome. (I couldn't resist!) I really enjoyed the book and I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun book that leaves you cheerful and thrilled with life. Once I had heard about The Book of (even more) Awesome I knew I had to buy it! This time, however, I decided to purchase a 'hard copy' of  the book as one of the downfalls of eBooks is not being able to share them with friends and family. I have not started to read this book yet, but look for a review soon. 

Monday Posts will feature an Awesome Thing from the website of author of these books, Neil Pasricha. Currently Neil is on #239, which means I will either be posting a huge amount of Monday Posts or possibly even featuring multiple Awesome Things. I will be featuring Awesome Things that I actually think are awesome, but be sure to check out the website for all. 

#997 Locking people out of the car and pretending to drive away 

I love doing this to people but I must admit that I do not appreciate being on the other end of this prank. Neil lists the three different versions that are possible, from Version 1 which features a "slow rolling drive away while the victim knocks on the window and pretends not to care" to Version 3, which involves the driver never returning! Regardless of which version that is used, locking people out of the car and pretending to drive away is awesome!

Book Updates:

Right now I am just about the start one of two books that I have borrowed from the library. The first is Bedtime Story by Robert J. Wieserma and The Good Daughters by Joyce Maynard. 

Bedtime Story is a book that I had seen many times in Chapters and while I pick it up every time I never actually buy it. The plot seems intriguing and I am very excited to begin reading it. A description of the book can be found here (I couldn't find a small enough description to include in this blog). 

The Good Daughters was actually a book I had seen on the library site looking for books. I put my name on the waiting list what seems like forever ago so I hope this book is worth the wait! Information about the book can be found here (again, there was no short descriptions to be found). 

Both books need to be returned in about twelve days so I need to be doing some serious reading this week, which should really not be too much of a problem. Ahhh, the joys of being finished school for the year and the job not starting until July. 

I have just realized what a huge posting this is going to be!!! Yikes!! At least I am actually posting now, which is a huge improvement from the lack of posts for over a month now. 

As this is a Monday Post I believe it would be fitting to end with this classic song about Mondays.
